I. Learning Outcomes
By the end of the lesson students will be able to:
- read and understand a text about sports and games;
- speak about different kinds of sports using 2–3 sentences;
- make up simple dialogues and use them in their speech;
- ask and answer questions about daily activities and shopping;
- use grammar patterns so…that, such…that, so many, so much correctly.

II. Warm-up – Talking about Sports
The teacher greets the class and asks simple questions:
- Do you like sports?
- What sport do you like most?
- Do you play sports at school?
Students answer orally. This activity prepares them for the main topic of the lesson.
III. Vocabulary Work
The teacher introduces new words, reads them aloud and students repeat:
- archery — тирпарронӣ
- basketball — баскетбол
- boxing — бокс
- cricket — крикет
- swimming — шиноварӣ
- football — футбол
- gymnastics — гимнастика
- volleyball — волейбол
- athletics — варзиши сабук
- golf — голф
- hockey — хоккей
Students make simple sentences with 2–3 words.
IV. Reading – Topic: Sports and Games
Students read the text silently and then aloud.
The teacher explains difficult words and helps students understand the main idea:
Sport is popular all over the world and unites people of different countries.
V. Speaking – Task 1
Students speak about the text using 2–3 sentences.
Example:
- Sports and games are very popular all over the world.
- People play different sports in summer and winter.
- Sport makes people healthy and strong.
VI. Everyday Speaking – Task 2
Students say what they usually have for breakfast.
Example:
- I usually have bread and tea for breakfast.
- Sometimes I eat eggs and drink milk.
VII. Pair Work – Task 3
Students ask their classmates what they buy at the market in summer.
Example dialogue:
— What can you buy at the market in summer?
— I can buy tomatoes, potatoes and onions.
The teacher helps students use the given words: meat, potatoes, tomatoes, onions, cabbage, lemon.
VIII. Grammar – Task 4
Students change numerals according to the example.
Example: Chapter 1 — the first chapter
Answers:
- Chapter 3 — the third chapter
- Lesson 12 — the twelfth lesson
- Part 2 — the second part
- Page 371 — the three hundred and seventy-first page
- Book 1 — the first book
IX. Grammar Practice – Task 5
Students write three sentences for each pattern.
1. So…that (with adjectives)
- The bag is so heavy that I can’t carry it.
- The weather is so cold that we stay at home.
- The task is so easy that everyone can do it.
2. So…that (with adverbs)
- He spoke so loudly that everyone heard him.
- She worked so hard that she passed the exam.
- They played so well that they won the game.
3. So many
- She has so many books that she can’t count them.
- There are so many students in the class that it is noisy.
- He has so many friends that he is never alone.
4. So much
- He drank so much water that he felt full.
- She has so much homework that she is tired.
- They spent so much time that they were late.
5. Such…that
- It is such an interesting book that I want to read it again.
- It is such fine weather that we want to go for a walk.
- She is such a good student that teachers respect her.
X. Reflection and Assessment
The teacher asks:
- What did you learn today?
- What new words do you remember?
Students answer in short sentences.
The teacher gives feedback on speaking and grammar.
XI. Homework
- Write 5–6 sentences about your favourite sport.
- Make a short dialogue about sports with your friend.
