I. Learning Outcomes

By the end of the lesson students will be able to:

II. Warm-up – Talking about Nature

The teacher asks:

Students answer orally to activate speaking.

III. Vocabulary Work

The teacher introduces new words, pronounces them and students repeat:

Students make short sentences with the new words.

IV. Reading – Topic: Countryside

Students read the text silently, then aloud.

The teacher explains difficult phrases and the main idea:

Nature inspires people and helps them enjoy life.

V. Speaking – Task 1

Students make their own sentences using the text.

Example:

VI. Dialogue Practice – Task 2

Students read and act the dialogue.

Sample dialogue:

A: (answering the phone): 2907744.
B: Hello. May I speak to Salim, please?
A: Who is it, please?
B: It’s his mother.
A: Just a minute, please.

Students then make up their own dialogues in pairs.

VII. Speaking and Acting

Students act the second dialogue about husbands, abilities and skills.

The teacher explains comparative ideas: big – strong – intelligent – athletic.

VIII. Rhyme

Students read and repeat the rhyme aloud:

Good, better, best
Let’s never rest,
Till our good is better
And our better best.

The teacher explains the meaning briefly.

IX. Question–Answer Practice – Task 3

Students answer the questions orally or in written form.

  1. It is better to go in for basketball because it is popular.
  2. The strongest sportsman in our country is …
  3. The most beautiful countryside is in …
  4. Travelling by train takes more time.
  5. The coldest climate is in the mountains.
  6. The most famous health resort is …
  7. Football and wrestling are the most popular sports.
  8. My favourite actor / actress is …

(Students give personal answers.)

X. Speaking Activity – Task 4

Students speak about changing their mind.

Example dialogue:

A: I was going to go in for football, but now I want to go in for basketball.
B: Why did you change your mind?
A: Because basketball is more interesting for me.

Students work in pairs and change roles.

XI. Reflection and Assessment

The teacher asks:

The teacher gives short feedback on speaking and dialogue skills.

XII. Homework

  1. Write 6–8 sentences about your favourite place in the countryside.
  2. Make a short dialogue about nature or travelling.
